Overview
The GE Aestiva/5 MRI Anesthesia Machine is an anesthesia delivery system built for MRI-suite use. It supports inhalation anesthesia, controlled ventilation, and integrated breathing system operation while giving clinical teams the added ability to work in the MR environment. REF 1006-9310-000 identifies the Aestiva MRI configuration.
The system uses the Datex-Ohmeda 7900 SmartVent ventilator to support patient ventilation during surgical and diagnostic MRI procedures. It provides volume ventilation, pressure control ventilation, electronic PEEP, and optional advanced modes such as SIMV and PSVPro , depending on configuration.
The Aestiva/5 MRI works in MRI environments up to the 300 gauss line and supports active shielded 1.5T and 3T MRI systems when used according to approved facility protocols. It also includes a built-in magnetic field strength monitor, also called a Gauss alarm , which warns users when the machine moves too close to the MRI magnet.
